skibigsky's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blerg. I am going to kill Handyman. Mr. V. bought this race car in California, mere miles from where Handyman spends part of the summer (and this guy usually returns here this time of year), and Handyman agreed to get a tow hitch for his truck (that we would pay for, BTW, oh yeah, and we'd pay for his time, too - not like we are asking him to do this for free, or anything), and tow the car back for us. Great plan. Except that he is bitching and moaning and whining about every part of the towing process, to the extent that Mr. V. has decided that he just wants to drive out to CA and pick up the car and bring it back. Which means that we've got to cancel Mr. V.'s mother's trip (she;s supposed to be here tomorrow), and either drive the 5th wheel out (and leave Handyman to supposedly drive the trailer - not the car, but the trailer), or just take the truck out, and return with the car and trailer. 12 hours to Santa Cruz. With the dogs, and either the 5th wheel or just the truck. If we don't take the 5th wheel, we'll get there faster, as we'll share the driving. If we take the 5th wheel we'll stop and camp - more relaxing (sort of!) but more time, and we'd STILL have to rely on Handyman to get the trailer here (and I'm not feeling good about that.... Of course.... If we just take the truck, I'd either be towing the car, or Mr. V. would have to drive all the way back. Although there are long stretches of Nevada, that, well, might not be too difficult to negotiate. But I can't see Mr. V. letting me tow (for the first time towing anything) his fancy schmancy race car. So it will be a long trip back. Gah. And since I am moving money around like a madwoman (why do banks take so frickin' long to transfer money when the computers actually do it in a blip of a second?), we are cash poor. With luck, we won't be by Monday, but while we've got tons of money in the ether, we've got only a few hundred in the 'available funds'. Which is not conducive to a trip across the deserts.
