skibigsky's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay, so it was my fault after all.... Well, the diagnosis on the Mini is back; the clutch is fried. When we first heard this from the dealership, Mr. V. started to give me a rash of shit about how I was brutal on the clutch and this really was all my fault. I explained to him that since he was the fool who sent me out in the car with very little instruction on how to drive a manual transmission, it was equally his fault. We left it at deciding that it was a semi-expensive way for me to learn to drive a manual transmission, but not horrible. Then, we call our main Mini parts supplier to see if we can get a heavy-duty racing clutch for the thing, and learn that the 2007 Minis are having clutch problems; the car is too overpowered for the clutch they've got in it, and if you do any high performance driving *cough*autocross*cough, they burn out really quickly. So, I am somewhat vindicated. And since they have to go in and put in the new clutch, Mr. V. is going to get the new limited slip differential transmission, as well. The only bummer? No high-performance clutch for the '07 yet. But at least it wasn't totally my fault! *whew. 7:53 p.m. - 31 July 2007 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
