Apparently the new clutch is $250, but the labor is $1000. And if we are going to pay to pull the sucker out, we are going to pay an extra $1500 to put in a limited slip differential transmission (if we did it later, we'd have to pay the $1000 in labor, AGAIN). However... We've got a full warranty on the car, and a clutch, no matter how harshly it is driven (well, within reason.... and even though I'm hard on the clutch, I wasn't horrifically so), should cack in under 4000 miles. So, we are arguing with Mini about whether this thing is actually covered by the warranty or not. Especially since the engineers (and after-market people) are very aware of the '07 Minis going through clutches. Frankly, I'm not too keen on paying $5000 for the new clutch and the LSD, if we can get Mini to step up and at least take care of the clutch and work. *sigh. 7:31 p.m. - 01 August 2007 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
