More fund in Volatile Land.

So, still no word on whether Mini will cover our clutch and flywheel. (Yes, we have the car, and we have paid for the car. But Mr. V. had a very heated discussion with the General Manager of the dealership, and they may be rethinking the ‘we aren’t going to warranty it’ decision. Heh. I’m so glad I married someone with balls. He may piss me off at times, but he pisses other people off, too, and usually gets stuff handled. And that is cool. In the meantime, I’m trying like hell to get 500 miles on the car before Friday afternoon. Which means A LOT of trips to the marked and Home Depot. But since I need to make those trips anyway, it’s all okay.)

Yeah, so. Mr. V. FINALLY has a business partner that I trust. They/we are starting (another) racing company around car racing, and the guy that is working with him, Charles, is fantastic. Very bright, very motivated, and very mellow. I trust this guy implicitly, and for me, that is a rare occurrence. We’ve got a lot of work to do before we can make this a viable business, but I think with Charles, his partner, and Mr. V., it will happen. Which is sort of exciting.

In the meantime, we’ve got the Pro Solo coming up this weekend. Racing against national level people, I’ll get my ass handed to me. But I’ve got a car that is working, and Mr. V.’s partner is coming out to help relieve me of some of the stress (well, he’s coming out to deal with the car, which, in turn, relieves me of major amounts of stress…). So while it is going to be a hectic week, we will survive.

But at least while the boys are trying to figure out how to get Franken Miata into the 5th wheel, I get to go off to Home Depot to find blank magnetic sheets. We’ve got to run with certain decals on our cars – more so if we want to get sponsored by companies, and I don’t want to have decals permanently affixed to the Mini. So I’ll stick the decals on the magnets, stick the magnets on the car, and Bob’s your uncle. But finding magnetic sheets that will work? I spent over an hour today, and finally found some fairly expensive (but at this point, I’m not sure that money matters – the boys have just invested $2000 in a weighting/balancing thingy – so the $30 that I spent is negligible, I guess) ones at Staples. I am not sure if they are heavy-duty enough to stay on the car, but we’ll try…..

And in the meantime, I finally bought myself some new sports bras. I don’t know why I wait until the elastic/spandex/whatever is totally stretched out before buying them (probably because I’d rather spend my money on fun stuff), but whatever. Maybe one of these years I’ll learn. Today’s purchase came via the outlet stores down the street from us.

Ugh. I can’t honestly believe that people actually travel to come to these places. (On the other hand, I am a person who generally believes that if it can’t be purchased online, it isn’t worth purchases, fresh fruit, vegetable and fish aside. So take this with a grain of salt. Or several! My mom, on the other hand, loves checking out the ‘Coach’ outlet store, so it wouldn’t take much arm-twisting for her….) Luckily at 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon, the parking lot was only about half full, and I was able to park far away from everyone else. (Yes, I am a chicken. Even with the Mini. I HATE parking next to people. I’d rather walk than try to fit myself between two other cars. I can do it, sure, but I choose not to. I’ve ALWAYS been like this.) Which ended up working out, because after I went to the Hanes outlet store (2 sports bras, $40, and they both seem to fit) I decided to investigate the ‘Borders’ outlet store. Not worth a trip in its own right, but since I was there, I was able to plunk down $20 for 5 hardcover books that have been on my list, so it was okay.

So, other than that, nothing exciting in Volatile Land.

Oh yeah. And I'd like to add that after my rant last week, Mr. V. has really come around and been the attentive spouse. Not that we don't have our disagreements, but he's stepped up in the spouse department quite significantly. Which is very cool. *grin.
