skibigsky's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Testing the 'vette Today was the test run for the Zo6; while ostensibly Mr. V. wanted to put the car through its paces, I think he really wanted to see whether I could be trusted with the keys. *grin. (And given how Mr. V. is STILL feeling, I don’t doubt him; we were out for three hours, and Mr. V. has been back in bed ever since…. The moral of the story? Go see your MD before your pneumonia almost kills you…) Brandon arrived at the house at o-dark-thirty, and we loaded up the cones, the air canister and pressure gage, and took off to the Triumph parking lot. The boys (meaning not me) set the course.
After a little tweaking, it was ready to go, a technical course and with two laps per run, was running in 52+ second range. Mr. V. took the first runs, and the cones were a-flyin’.
Luckily, Ryan showed up around this time, as there much cone carnage flowing behind the Volatiles…
Brandon had the foresight to actually run over to Home Depot and get some drywall, so we could mark the course, as the course certainly would have ‘walked’ (as we witnessed in Pocatello on Saturday), if we hadn’t!
After taking a couple of run, Mr. V. had me drive, and I spun the car on each of my first two runs. I think Mr. V. was probably yelling something at me as he was waving his hands, but I couldn’t really hear over the rumble of the car! *grin. And then Brandon showed us how to really drive the car.
And Ryan got his turn, next.
And then the boys brought out their cars:
The local constabulary were watching but didn’t get close enough for an invite; no issues with law enforcement here!
Brandon then provided much-needed coaching to the cone-killing Volatiles (well, okay, he helped Mr. V., too!) Thanks!!! (Although I still think that I’m probably going to up my cone-count this weekend, if today was any indicator… At one point the boys told me ‘no more cones or get out of the car”. Just because I hit 8 cones in one run? Picky, picky, picky.) Eh? So maybe I hit a few cones…. Guess next car will need to by pylon orange. *heehee.
