LOVE this racing thing.

Well, the Corvette has been taken off the road to become a true race car. We are putting $1000/corner shocks in the sucker that will make it essentially un-streetable. Yeah, we could driveit on the road, but hit one of the many potholes that dot the Utah roads, and we could be out several thousand bucks. So, the Z06 is off getting proper race alignment, and getting set up with racing slicks (in the snow predicted for Saturday, slicks could get a totally new meaning! Luckily there isn’t MUCH to hit at MMP), and then we will trailer the sucker. Our team will then possibly buy a second Z06 that Charles will develop in concert with Charlie and this one, so we’ve got cars in Utah and California that can be raced/tested together in preparation for nationals.
Yep. We’re car crazy.
The funny thing? Today was the first measureable snow at our house for the season, and I could care less. (Other than that I don’t want to freeze my ass off racing this weekend, and I’m hoping that it is dry enough that I can competently run the Corvette on Saturday as well as Sunday.) We will probably be going to Colorado in a few weeks for a couple days of early skiing, but my heart is just not in it right now. I’d really rather focus on car racing. In time, I could actually be decent at the car stuff. In time, I’m still never going to compete with the ex-USSA/World Cup chicks in ski racing. Not that I won’t continue to enjoy ski racing – my goals are actually quite reduced this year, and I think that will likely lead to a good season, as I’m not putting any pressure on myself.
But an interesting dynamic. I’d rather fly out to California and run autocross races there in January, than go to Montana to run Super G. Healthier dynamic, too, realistically….
Yeah, I’m ready to ski. But damn. I want to understand this Corvette. I want to learn how to DRIVE a big HP car. (Because I want to be ready for a prepared car…. Which might ultimately end up being an XP – take one of the potential Corvettes and ‘preparing’ it….. 600 HP all trying to go forward….. Eh. The whole prepared thing is still down the road for me…) I want to rumble.
And it will all be in parking lots; too many tickets and potential hazards on the road for these big HP cars…. (Not to mention pot holes, once they are set up to race…)
I am a little bummed about the Corvette being taken off the road, as I am feeling a little inadequate in my Pacifica these days; got a bitchin’ Corvette, a bitchin’ truck, a sweet Mini Cooper, and I’m driving a car that can safely haul 7 people. Gah. Oh well. At least I KNOW that I’ve got a bitchin’ couple of cars in my ‘stable’.

Sorry if I sound really spoiled, BTW. Not my intention. I’m more like a kid in a candy shop – and one who has just discovered that she thought she was diabetic for 36 years, and suddenly discovered that she wasn’t and could go wild! I am SO LOVING this car thing. Why didn’t anyone tell me about it sooner?!?
